Divisorias de Vidro is a new series of Indian English novels, written by Amish Tripathi. It is the third in the "Bhagavan" trilogy, following "Nirvana" and "Nemesis." Divisorias promises to be a far cry from the dark, hopeless fantasy of the previous books. The hero of this book, Jundal, is not the typical anti-hero of Indian crime fiction. He is a principled and romantic anti-hero who rises above the circumstances of his tragedy to take control of his destiny.

The story begins with the murder of a merchant's son, Nizbaru. The motive is unclear, but the merchants daughter is vengeful for the murder and attempts to find someone to pay for the funeral expenses. Afraid that her father will go into exile, she makes contact with a Mumbai slumlord who promises to help in covering the costs. She tells him that her own brother, Jundal, is going to murder her father. The slumlord instead tries to use the murder to get his hands on a fortune, which he plans to sell to the government.

In order to escape his destiny, Jundal must travel to Mumbai and meet a girl called Nemade who is also attempting to escape a life of crime on the streets. Once they have established a relationship, Nemade realizes that Jundal is her father's killer. In the end, the hero decides to return to Africa and help his father against the slumlord and the criminals who would try to kill him.

There is plenty of murder, theft, and corruption in Divisorias de vidro em jundiai, but none of it is very interesting. I felt that some of the descriptions were a bit over the top, but I won't give them away. I did, however, like how the novel opens with the crime taking place in Africa, as this is a part of the book's world.

At times, though, it can be hard to tell what is real and what is not. The story seems to take place off of the page and into the ether. It is this that makes it a challenge to follow, especially for a first time reader. This is not a novel for everyone, but for those who enjoy a bit of fantasy, this might be just the right kind of book for them. Divisorias De Vidro Em Jundiai could easily be marketed as a vampire romance without using the word "vampire" in the title.

Divisorias De Vidro Em Jundiai is almost too perfect a novel to review. I couldn't help falling in love with Jundal immediately. The novel is chock full of crime, mystery, and adventure. This story seems to have a bit of "evil genius" thrown into it along with some modern elements, but that's all I can say about this series. If you enjoy dark urban fantasy with a touch of romance thrown in, then Divisorias De Vidro Em Jundiai will surely make an excellent read.
